Umbro Neo 2 Pro FA Cup – FIFA Approved 209.A1A
Used for the first time in the 2012 FA Cup Final between Chelsea and Liverpool (2-1), the Umbro Neo 2 Pro matchball is an evolution of the classic Neo design.
The same professional standard ball that will be used in this season’s FA Cup final, the Umbro Neo 2 Pro football is built to go where it should. Crafted from 14 hand-stitched panels to provide a greater strike zone, the Neo Pro has a Teijin outer casing which offers improved touch and control. With a Kevlar lining system to aid shape retention, the England Neo Pro ball also features the England crest and Umbro logo in red.
The 2012–13 FA Cup is the 132nd season of the FA Cup, the main domestic cup competition in English football, and the oldest association football knock-out competition in the world. It is sponsored by Budweiser for a second consecutive season.
A total of 833 clubs applied to enter with 758 clubs being accepted into the competition. The preliminary rounds commenced on 11 August 2012, with the first round proper played on 3 November 2012 and the final which will be contested on 11 May 2013 at Wembley Stadium.
The winners of the competition will earn a place in the group stage of next season’s UEFA Europa League, if they have not already qualified for European competition; if so then the runners-up will instead take this berth.
